The earliest line of the Diamond Multimedia products was the series “Speedstar”. Speedstar is a graphic card that was then considered as an inexpensive, value packed chips that can be implemented at low cost. One of the best selling products of the Diamond Multimedia is the Diamond Edge 3D. The Diamond Edge 3D is considered as one of the first consumer 3D accelerator card which is based on the chipset of the NVIDIA NV1. The chipset features full 2D and 3D acceleration along with the capability of a General MIDI audio engine and it also has the ability to use Sega Saturn controllers on its port.
The “Rio PMP300” is the brainchild of Diamond Multimedia’s innovation. The Rio PMP300 is considered as one of the first consumer based mp3 players. However, Diamond Multimedia decided to sell their mp3 production line and no longer gives support for the said product.
